SRC 8 CY PC1000 dredging Oyster Point Ferry Terminal
Salt River Construction was founded in 1989 by Tom Moseley to meet the dredging needs of his marina, the Paradise Cay Yacht Harbor. A few years after dredging the Paradise Cay Yacht Harbor, Salt River began dredging other marinas in San Francisco Bay. Since 1991 we have dredged for many private marina owners, municipalities, the State of California, the Department of Parks and Recreation, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the US Coast Guard. We have worked for the cities of San Francisco, Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, Richmond, San Leandro, Strawberry, Corte Madera, Larkspur, Benicia, Vallejo, San Mateo, and the County of Marin.

We started out using a suction dredge system, but converted to using clamshell and excavator dredges after environmental laws affected the suction dredging process. By starting out with suction dredging we learned about both mechanical and suction dredging processes. Today we have a fleet of over ten barges including two crane barges, two barge mounted excavator/dump barges, four tug boats, a full hydrographic survey boat and several dump barges and flat deck material barges with material loading and unloading equipment. As of 2006, we added a second integrated excavator mounted dump barge system which has given Salt River the capability of removing 2000 cubic yards of material per day in one shift from a shallow water marina. As of 2009 we added a Komatsu PC1000 with an 8 CY bucket, 2 more tug boats, two additional dump barges and a 90 ton crane barge to our dredging fleet. We are involved in all aspects of marine construction including suction dredging, excavator and clamshell dredging, pile driving and removal, material hauling and placement, dock construction and demolition, hauling, rip rap, and levee work to build up the eroding delta levees.

We provide a full service for our private customers by performing all of their permit work, survey work and everything they need to ensure their dredging needs are satisfied. We do yearly maintenance for some customers and keep a good working relationship with our private clients, which make up about 65% of our business. We bond our own work and perform large projects every season that sometime require 24 hour, 7 day a week work. We are the largest shallow water dredging company in San Francisco bay.
